Spiced Caramel Apple Cider

Enjoy this spiced caramel apple cider topped with whipped cream and caramel.   This copycat Starbucks spiced hot apple cider recipe uses a homemade cinnamon syrup and makes two servings.   No need to spend those extra dollars for Caramel Apple Spice when you can make it at home.

When the leaves begin to fall, we start looking for hot drinks to sip while enjoying Fall activities.  We do love Pumpkin Spice but our true love is apple drinks like this copycat version of Starbucks spiced apple cider.   You don’t have to leave your house to enjoy a Starbucks hot apple cider with this flavorful recipe and it doesn’t break the bank.   Treating yourself with these themed drinks at your local coffee house can be expensive so making them at home is a smart solution.

We make a homemade cinnamon syrup and heat it with apple juice to make a warm spiced apple cider.  Then we added plenty of caramel sauce and topped this (copycat) Starbucks spiced apple cider with whipped topping, even more caramel then sprinkled it with cinnamon. 

 

Spiced Caramel Apple Cider Recipe:

Ingredients for the Cinnamon Syrup:

  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 4 cinnamon sticks

Ingredients for the Drink:

  • 2 cups apple juice
  • 2 tablespoons cinnamon syrup
  • Caramel sauce
  • Whipped cream
  • Cinnamon, optional

How to make this Spiced Caramel Apple Cider:

Start the spiced caramel apple cider by making the cinnamon syrup.  Add the water, sugar, and cinnamon sticks in a small saucepan and stir until the sugar is dissolved.   Heat the ingredients over medium heat, bringing the liquid to a simmer. Continue simmering for five minutes, stirring often.  

Remove the cinnamon sticks from the pot and transfer the cinnamon syrup to a jar or other container.

Combine the apple juice with two tablespoons of the cinnamon syrup in a small saucepan.  Heat this spiced apple cider, over medium low heat until the juice begins to simmer.

Drizzle caramel syrup around the sides of two clear glass coffee cups, allowing some to puddle in the bottom.

Pour the hot spiced apple cider into the caramel drizzled clear cups.

Top with whipped cream and drizzle more caramel syrup on top before serving.
