Ingredients

  • 1 pound sweet Italian sausage
  • 1 Red Bell Pepper
  • 1 medium onion
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 1 cup marinara
  • 1 package of 12 slider rolls
  • 10 slices Mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup grated mozzarella or parmesan
  • Butter
  • Garlic Powder

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350° F. and line a sheet pan with parchment paper. Use a cookie scoop to make 12 equal sized meatballs and place them on the sheet pan. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes until done.
  • Finely chop the red bell pepper and pell and chop the onion creating about 1 cup of chopped onions. Mince the garlic clove.
  • In a medium skillet, heat olive oil over medium high heat. Add the chopped peppers and onions to the skillet and sauté until onions are translucent and peppers are tender. Add the garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes.
  • Pour in the marinara and stir to combine. Continue to cook until the sauce is hot, remove from heat and keep warm until you start to assemble the sausage and peppers sliders.
  • Line a 9 X 13 inch baking pan with aluminum foil leaving enough extra to cover the pan later. Keep the slider buns connected and lift the tops off and set aside. Place the bottom buns in the baking pan to create the first layer in these sausage and peppers sliders.
  • Complete cover the bottom slider buns with the sliced mozzarella cheese slices, cutting the slices if needed.
  • Spoon the marinara sauce over the cheese slices and spread evenly. Make sure the sauce extends to cover each slider.
  • Place the tops of the slider buns on a cutting board. Use a 1¾ inch biscuit cutter to cut holes in the tops of each of these slider buns.
  • Carefully place the still connected top buns over the marinara sauce
  • Add garlic powder to the melted butter in a small dish and mix well.
  • Use a pastry brush to liberally brush the garlic butter mixture on the tops of the buns. Make sure and coat them completely.
  • Place a cooked sausage ball into each hole and press them down carefully until they are into the marinara sauce. Cover the the meatball topped sliders with the extra foil and place in your preheated oven. Bake the sausage and peppers sliders for about 15 minutes to melt the mozzarella cheese.
  • Remove from oven and remove foil cover. Top your meatball topped sliders with shredded parmesan or mozzarella cheese and return to oven for 1-2 minutes until the cheese is melted. Remove from oven and serve.
