Hot Chocolate Bombs or Cocoa Bombs

Make your own hot chocolate bombs with marshmallows inside. And you can use either chocolate chips or chocolate melting wafers for this hot cocoa bombs recipe.

Equipment

  • Silicone molds
  • A microwave safe bowl
  • A spoon or a decorating brush made for baking.
  • A plate that can be heated by the microwave or a flat pan that can be heated on the stove .
  • A piping bag or a ziplock bag

To Make the Cocoa Bombs

  • Use a microwave safe bowl to heat your chocolate chips. Place them in the bowl and heat in the microwave in 30 second increments stirring each time until your chocolate is melted and smooth.
  • Now you can coat your silicone molds, making sure that all of the sides and bottoms are well coated. You can use the back of a spoon for this process but another good option is a decorating brush made for baking.
  • After all six of the cups in the mold are well coated, place the mold in the fridge and allow for the chocolate to set up. This will take approximately 30 minutes to an hour depending on the type of chocolate you have used. Then remove the mold from the fridge and carefully pop each chocolate cup out of the molds.
  • Pour 1 tablespoon of cocoa mix and several mini marshmallows in each of three chocolate shell halves.
  • Heat a plate in the microwave, or a pan on the stove. Then place one of the empty shells rim side down on the hot surface just long enough to melt the rim of the shell. And quickly place it on top of one of the filled sides. Gently press to stick rims together to make a ball and allow to set completely.
  • Place the white chocolate chips into a small microwaveable bowl. Heat your chocolate chips in the microwave in 30 second increments until it is melted and smooth. Then fill a piping bag or a filled Ziploc bag with the melted white chocolate. Drizzle it in slashes back and forth over the top of each cocoa bomb.

To make hot chocolate

  • Add one hot chocolate bomb to a mug and pour 8-10 ounces of hot milk over the top. Stir until all the chocolate is melted
