Ingredients

Instructions

  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, and milk until smooth and very well combined.
  • Add the four eggs and whisk vigorously until the French toast batter is smooth and thoroughly combined.
  • Stir in the cinnamon and vanilla extract until fully incorporated into the French toast batter.
  • Heat a skillet or griddle over medium-low heat and add ½ tablespoon of butter.Pour the French toast batter into a shallow dish (like a small casserole dish or wide container) for easy dipping.
  • Once the butter has melted and the skillet is hot, dip a slice of bread into the batter, flipping it quickly to coat both sides evenly.
  • Transfer the coated bread slice to the skillet, letting any excess batter drip off before placing it in the hot pan. A cast iron skillet cooks the toast more evenly and typically fits at least two slices at once. If you’re using a griddle, you can cook several slices of cinnamon French toast simultaneously.
  • Cook for 2–3 minutes until the bottom is golden brown, then flip and cook the other side for another 2–3 minutes.Remove from the skillet and repeat with the remaining slices of bread.
  • Serve hot with a generous pour of maple syrup, fresh berries, and a swirl of whipped cream.

Notes

Serve this Cinnamon French Toast with real maple syrup or with strawberries, bananas and topped with whip cream for an extra special breakfast or brunch dish.
