Using simple pantry staples like Epsom salt to mimic a snowy glow, these charming creations double as a safer, fire-resistant twist on traditional paper bag lanterns—perfect for lining your porch, driveway, or table for a cozy winter wonderland.

  • Wide Mouth Quart Mason Jars You could use other sizes according to your taste
  • Epsom Salt
  • White Votive Candles
  • or Red Votive Candles
  • or Yankee Candles Mixed

Instructions

  • Pour Epsom salt into the bottom of each clean mason jar. Add as much “snow” as you like—just keep the depth slightly less than the height of your candle or tea light so the flame stays safely below the rim.
  • Nestle a candle (real tea light, battery tea light, or fairy lights) right in the center of the salt.
  • Light it up and enjoy the glow!Leave the lids off, or top with decorative cut-out lids (make sure they match your jar—regular or wide-mouth).
