Equipment

Ingredients

  • Jute Twine
  • Wooden Beads
  • Wooden Clothes Pins
  • Gold Paint

Instructions

  • Before you begin, pick a twine that’s thin enough to easily thread through both the holes in your wooden beads and the metal eyes (or springs) of your clothespins. Jute or hemp twine around 2–3 mm works perfectly for most standard beads and mini clothespins.
  • Decide how long you want your finished card holder to be. Ours is 70 inches and holds 8 clothespins, but feel free to go longer for a bigger display or shorter for a smaller space.
Measure and cut your twine to that length, then add an extra 8–10 inches. The surplus gives you plenty of room to tie a sturdy hanging loop at each end.
  • Give your clothespins a quick glow-up (optional, but fun!):
Spray-paint them gold for a touch of glam, leave them natural for classic farmhouse charm, or paint them red or green to match colored beads. Whatever vibe you’re feeling, a 30-second coat of paint makes them pop perfectly against the twine and beads.
  • Now the fun part: start stringing!
Slide a few wooden beads onto the twine, then every 7 inches (or closer if you want your cards to overlap prettily), thread the twine straight through the metal “eye” (the spring loop) of a clothespin so it hangs down like a little clip. Add more beads, another clothespin, and keep repeating until you reach the end of your twine.
Pro tip: space the pins 5–6 inches apart for a cascading, overlapping card look—perfect for showing off lots of greetings at once!
  • Finish by tying a secure loop at each end with a simple square knot (right over left, then left over right). Trim any excess twine if you like, or leave it a little shaggy for extra rustic charm.
  • Hang your new card holder on a couple of nails, hooks, or even pretty drawer pulls, then start clipping up those beautiful Christmas cards as they arrive. Watch your wall turn into a gallery of holiday love!
