Taco night just got a whole lot simpler and tastier! This easy homemade sugar-free taco seasoning is our go-to Mexican spice mix that beats the store-bought packets every time. No added sugar, no mystery ingredients—just pure flavor from spices you probably already have in your cabinet. Whether you’re making beef tacos, seasoning chicken, pork, or even steak, this low-carb blend comes together in minutes and keeps you from hunting for that one missing packet.
Start by gathering all your spices together so everything is ready. You’ll also need a small bowl, measuring spoons, a fork or small whisk for mixing, and an empty spice jar or airtight container to store it in.
Measure all the spices into your small bowl. I like to double or even triple the recipe so I always have plenty of this sugar-free taco seasoning on hand. It stores beautifully and saves me time on busy weeknights when taco cravings hit!
We always make a bigger batch and pour it into these handy empty spice jars we found on Amazon. They’re perfect for keeping everything fresh and organized in the cabinet.
Mix all the spices together really well using a dinner fork or small whisk until everything is evenly blended.
Once everything is well mixed, use a small funnel to neatly pour the seasoning into a clean, dry spice jar (or any airtight container). Give the jar a good shake to settle the spices, then label it clearly with the name and date.
I like to make a bigger batch and keep one jar in my everyday spice cabinet and another in the pantry. It stays fresh for months and is always ready when we need it. Nothing beats reaching for your own homemade blend instead of a store packet!
This full batch is perfect for seasoning one pound of ground beef. If you doubled or tripled the recipe (which I highly recommend), use about 2 tablespoons per pound of meat.
Notes
You might wish to go a little easy on the crushed red pepper if you don’t like spicy.
