Ingredients

To make these Italian Sausage and Pepper Hoagies

  • 5 Hoagie Rolls
  • Mustard or any other condiment you prefer

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 450 degrees.
  • Slice red, orange bell peppers and onion into strips and place in a large mixing bowl.
  • Add the basil, oregano, and minced garlic.   Season with salt and pepper and toss to distribute the seasonings evenly.
  • Pour the olive oil over the onions and peppers and toss to coat well.
  • Cover a large sheet pan with parchment paper. Spread the seasoned peppers and onions onto the pan.
  •  If you are using uncooked sausages place them around the edge of the sheet pan and place in oven.    If using cooked sausages, wait to add until the last 15 minutes of cooking time.  
  • Place in preheated oven and bake for 30 minutes, tossing the veggies and turning the sausages halfway through the cooking time.
  • Remove from oven and place the peppers and onions on a plate (I use a clear pie plate for serving). Top with the sausages.
  • Serve as is or on hoagie rolls.
