To start the sweet and tangy glaze for your baked ham, grab a medium saucepan and add one 8.5 ounce can of crushed pineapple—juice and all!
Next, stir in the packed brown sugar, mustard, cornstarch (for that perfect thick glaze), lemon juice, and a pinch of salt right into the saucepan with the crushed pineapple and its juice.
Whisk everything together over medium heat until the sugar dissolves and the mixture starts to thicken into a luscious, glossy glaze—it’s going to make your ham absolutely irresistible!
Once your glaze has thickened into a gorgeous, glossy mixture, remove the saucepan from the heat and let it cool slightly for easier handling.
About 30 minutes before your ham is finished baking, grab a basting brush (or, confession: we totally use a clean paintbrush—who else does this for glazes and melted butter? It works like a charm!) and generously brush the pineapple glaze all over the ham.
Pop it back in the oven to let that sweet, tangy coating caramelize into pure magic.
May be brushed on several times during the last 30 minutes of cooking time for the ham.
Notes
Quick tip: If your brown sugar is rock-hard (we’ve all been there!), you’ll love our favorite brown sugar keeper. It has a simple terra cotta disk you soak in water and pop in the container—it keeps the sugar perfectly soft and clump-free forever. Genius, right? We get asked about it all the time!
