Savory Bacon, Cheddar and Chive Scones

Savory Bacon, Cheddar, and Chive Scones. This easy recipe packs crisp bacon, sharp cheddar, and fresh chives into buttery, golden triangles—perfect for breakfast, brunch, or a cozy weekend bite. Bake a batch in 30 minutes and watch them vanish faster than a catapult-launched rock! We love a great southern biscuit but there is no denying our love for these breakfast delights.

Ingredients

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 450°F and line a baking sheet with parchment or lightly grease it.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  • Add the cold cubed butter and cut it in with a pastry blender (or two forks) until the mixture looks like coarse crumbs with some pea-sized pieces remaining.
  • Pop the bowl in the freezer for 5 minutes to re-chill.
  • Pour in the milk (except the reserved 2 Tbsp), then add cheese, bacon, chives, and a few generous grinds of pepper. Stir gently with a fork just until the dough comes together—it will be shaggy and crumbly.
  • Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and pat it into a 7-inch round (about 1 inch thick). Using a sharp knife, pizza cutter, or bench scraper, cut the round into 8 wedges.
  • Transfer wedges to the baking sheet, spacing them 2 inches apart. Brush the tops lightly with the reserved milk.
  • Bake 13–15 minutes or until golden brown and fragrant. Let cool a few minutes (or don’t—they’re amazing warm!), then serve with butter or just as they are.
