We make a homemade cinnamon syrup and heat it with apple juice to make a warm spiced apple cider.  Then we added plenty of caramel sauce and topped this (copycat) Starbucks spiced apple cider with whipped topping, even more caramel then sprinkled it with cinnamon. 

 

Spiced Caramel Apple Cider Recipe:

Ingredients for the Cinnamon Syrup:

  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 4 cinnamon sticks

Ingredients for the Drink:

  • 2 cups apple juice
  • 2 tablespoons cinnamon syrup
  • Caramel sauce
  • Whipped cream
  • Cinnamon, optional

How to make this Hot Apple Cider:

Spice things up this fall with a cup of spiced caramel apple cider!  The perfect blend of sweetness and warmth, guaranteed to satisfy your autumn cravings.

Start the spiced caramel apple cider by making the cinnamon syrup.  Add the water, sugar, and cinnamon sticks in a small saucepan and stir until the sugar is dissolved.   Heat the ingredients over medium heat, bringing the liquid to a simmer. Continue simmering for five minutes, stirring often.  

Remove the cinnamon sticks from the pot and transfer the cinnamon syrup to a jar or other container.

Combine the apple juice with two tablespoons of the cinnamon syrup in a small saucepan.  Heat this spiced apple cider, over medium low heat until the juice begins to simmer.

Drizzle caramel syrup around the sides of two clear glass coffee cups, allowing some to puddle in the bottom.
