Use this savory turkey breast recipe to cook a half turkey breast.   This is a Thanksgiving for two recipe serving a half turkey breast roasted in the oven.

As most Americans we love a huge Thanksgiving dinner with all the family around the table.  And we do that as often as possible.  But now with our children living in three different states, it’s not always an option to get together for Thanksgiving.  But we still celebrate the holiday with smaller potions like this savory turkey breast recipe using a half turkey breast.

This half turkey breast roasted in the oven is so flavorful and is a perfect amount for two people. It does feed more but this gives us a few leftovers for sandwiches.  

 

What you need for this savory turkey breast recipe

 

 

Turkey Breast Recipe Ingredients 

  • 1 onion, peeled and quartered
  • whole head garlic, edges cut off
  • 1 lemon, sliced
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth (or turkey broth)
  • 2 lb turkey breast
  • 3 Tablespoons butter
  • 1 Tablespoon poultry seasoning
  • 1/4 cup olive oil

 

How to make your half turkey breast roasted in the oven

Preheat your oven to 400° degrees F.  Place onion, garlic and lemon in a casserole dish or roasting pan large enough for your half turkey breast.

Pour the one half cup of chicken broth over the ingredients. 

 

 

Pat the turkey breast dry with a kitchen paper towel and place into the casserole dish.  Use a spoon or your fingers to pull the turkey skin away from the flesh.   Insert the butter in between the turkey skin and flesh.

 

 

Put the skin back and press the butter to spread it around under the skin. 

 

Seasoned Half Turkey Breast

 

Rub your poultry seasoning all over the turkey breast for this savory turkey breast recipe.

Carefully drizzle the olive oil over the half turkey breast.

 

Roasted Halt Turkey Breast

 

Place in the preheated oven uncovered for 35-45 minutes, until an inserted meat thermometer reads 160° F.  Remove from oven and allow the turkey breast to rest for 10 minutes. It will increase in temperature up to the remaining temperature of 165° F.
