Fun with Friends

Whenever we get a chance we are off to explore all the great open country near us.  And we are so lucky to have great friends that love to explore also.  A few weeks ago we were all able to get together for a full day of exploration and fun.

We parked near a great ranch homestead that borders BLM land and unloaded our Quads:)

After going through a few gates we were in open country.  Of course I believe a couple jokes were exchanged during the gate passing, LOL.

We were in no hurry, the jokes and fun continued:)

And we are off!!!

Time for breakfast at the first windmill:)
In this part of the country, there is no freshwater. So ever so many miles there are windmills that use the wind to pump water up out of the ground and into huge holding tanks which fill the cattle  water troughs.  I just love the sound of the windmills running,  it brings back so many good memories from my younger years.

Me and my cow!   LOL.
Na, just a cow on the ranch waiting for us to leave so she can come in and get a drink.

Of course we had to climb a hill for a great view:)
The hill in the distance directly over my head is Massacre Peak.

Another windmill stop!!  LOL

Time to cook some lunch:)

One of the ranch dogs had ran alongside of us for the entire morning and after feeding her our extra hot dogs, we gave her a ride:)
She has the perfect life, miles of country to run and an entire ranch to protect and at least for today, new friends to hang out with.

Saw a herd of antelope:)  Ok I admit it, I took this picture without my eyeglasses so I was lucky to get them.  It was a kinda point and shoot at them.

We explored this old ranch house:)  Notice there are no wires of any kinds near it.  No electricity nor running water:(

Even though we had enough hot dogs, chips and firepower to warn off any army, it was time to start heading home.

Just a totally beautiful day turning into a totally beautiful evening:)
I just love these wide open spaces!!

  2. Really open land. This kind of adventure would be a bit too dusty for me. My allergies would have a field day so-to-speak. It looks like you had fun and isn't that what it's all about? Great photo essay!
