We all love making easy crafts that can be finished in an afternoon.   These easy painted Christmas baubles or ornaments can be completed in a day but they do need to dry overnight.   And we love using unique flat glass balls for these personalized family Christmas ornaments to make them a little more special.   But if you have the round ones, this would work well for them also.

You can create these adorable personalized ornaments with any kind of letter stickers you have on hand or find at your favorite craft store.    Just make sure the stickers you use are on a clear background or are single letter stickers on a clear background for this.

How to make personalized family Christmas ornaments:

Supplies Needed:

  • Flat glass balls
  • White Craft paint
  • Alpha Stickers
  • Black and White Buffalo Check Ribbon
  • Christmas Ornament Hangers

Equipment Needed:

  • Glue Gun
  • Paintbrush

Remove the top from your glass ornament and add a generous amount of white paint inside, the more you add the easier it is to get coverage but the longer it takes to drip out.

Swirl the paint around until the inside is completely covered then place your ornament upside down in a paper cup or on top of the paint bottle to allow excess to drip, I leave mine for at least 30 minutes.

While your ornaments are drying, tie bows with the 2” buffalo plaid ribbon.  Make one bow for each ornament.

Place the top onto each ornament and thread one of these Christmas ornament hangers into the top of each.

Wipe off the outside of the ornament with rubbing alcohol to remove oil and fingerprints, this step helps the adhesive hold better.  Apply your stickers to spell out your chosen names, words, or phrases such as this dad ornament.  Be sure that the stickers you choose have a good adhesive backing.   If you are worried that it is not enough you can use mod podge under and over your stickers to help them stay in place.
