February 8, 2021 by Evelyn Leave a Comment

Make these Red and White painted bead napkin rings for Valentine napkin rings.  These wood bead napkin rings are super easy and inexpensive to make for your Valentine’s Day Table.

valentine napkin rings

I am really loving all the Farmhouse wood bead crafts that are so popular now.  We have dabbled in a couple of these bead crafts with a Fall Napkin Ring and a fun little snowman Christmas ornament.   And even though most Valentine napkin rings are delicate we thought that these painted bead napkin rings would work well.

This craft cost us virtually nothing because we had purchased a wooden bead set of various sizes in the past.   And we had the other supplies in our craft room.

What is needed to make these wood bead napkin rings:

Supplies:

  • 16 mm wood beads
  • red craft paint
  • white craft paint
  • jute cord
  • Heart embellishment of your choice

Equipment needed:

  • craft paintbrush
  • skewers

beads on a skewer for painting

It is easier to paint your wooden beads if you first slide them on a wooden skewer.  Place 10 beads on a skewer leaving about 1/4 to 1/2 inch of space between each one.  Add 10 other beads to a second skewer for the different colors.

Apply one coat of red craft paint all over the beads, be sure to cover it entirely.  And allow it to dry until paint is no longer tacky.  Once dry, add another coat to give it nice solid finish, allow to dry again.

Repeat all the steps with the second skewer by painting the beads white.    Allow all the beads to dry completely and remove them from the skewers.

To make your beads easier to string on the jute twine, dip the end in glue and smooth it flat, allow it to harden.   Or you can do this with a bit of hot glue because it dries quickly.  Just add a dab to the end, wait for it to cool enough to touch and shape the tip into a point.  Slide beads over the end of the twine, alternating the white and red until you have a total of 10 beads.  Leave 3-4 inches of excess twine on either end.

Thread both ends into your heart embellishment and tie into a knot and cut the ends leaving  couple inches.

DIY Valentine Wood Bead Napkin Rings

Set your Valentine Table by placing these rings on a Valentine themed Napkin and place on a red or white plate. And you could also  sprinkle rose petals and/or other wood heart confetti around the place settings to continue your Farmhouse Valentine Day Place Setting.
