Scary punch Ice Cubes, Halloween Creepy frozen Eyeballs

I remember when my son was in middle school, I made these Creepy frozen eyeballs.  My son loved them and enjoyed playing tricks on others with them.    But he was concerned he would have to eat them.  HA!   Nope, he could have if he has wished but it was not required.  In fact, I’m not sure how these flavors would go together, and not willing to find out right now.  But as scary ice cube eyeballs, they are super creepy cool!

And these creepy frozen eyeballs are so easy and made with items you may already have in your fridge.    I don’t freeze them inside ice cubes like some do because I think that round scary frozen eyeball floating in your favorite beverage is more authentic and freaky.    But I do freeze the eyeball since it will stay together easier and actually serves the second purpose of chilling your beverage.

Halloween Ice Cube Eyeballs Recipe:

  • Red Round Radishes
  • Green Olives stuffed with Pimentos

Equipment Needed:

🥣 Recipe Tips

  • Select Uniform Radishes for a Realistic Look: Choose red radishes that are round and similar in size to create consistent, eyeball-like shapes. When peeling the skin, leave thin, uneven strips of red to mimic bloodshot veins for a creepier effect. Rinse the radishes thoroughly after peeling to remove any loose skin, ensuring a clean appearance before adding the olive.
  • Use a Tomato Corer for Precision: To carve the hole for the olive half, use a tomato corer or a small melon baller for a clean, round cut that fits the olive snugly. If using a knife, make small, careful cuts to avoid splitting the radish, and ensure the hole is deep enough to hold the olive securely without it popping out during freezing.
  • Freeze Properly to Maintain Shape: Place the assembled radish-and-olive eyeballs upright in a container or ice tray to prevent them from rolling or sticking together while freezing. Once frozen, transfer them to a ziplock freezer bag as suggested, but ensure they’re fully frozen first to avoid squishing. For best results, use within a week to maintain texture and appearance when added to drinks.

How to Make Creepy frozen eyeballs:

red radishes cut to resemble eyeballs

Cut off the stem and root ends off each radish.  Then use a small knife such as a paring knife to scrape off strips of red skin off each radish.   Leave red stripes to give the radish a veined eye appearance.

Radish into scary eyeball

Either use a very tomato corer or use your knife to carve out a hole into the end of each radish large enough for the ½ of an olive.

Olive in radish for eyeballs

Cut the olives in half  and place a half of an olive, cut side out, into the hole of the radish.   Repeat for all the other radishes.

Then place on an ice tray or any container so the eyeballs stand up.   Place them in the freezer and allow to completely freeze.   After the eyeballs are frozen, place them in a ziplock freezer bag and place back into the freezer until ready to use.

Creepy frozen eyeballs

And these could be used in all drinks from a children’s Halloween party as scary punch ice cubes to creepy frozen eyeballs for an adult cocktail party.  These Halloween eyeball ice cubes are so easy and fun!  These budget-friendly eyeballs are ideal for Halloween parties, ensuring a fun and freaky beverage experience! Do these eyeballs sink down? I haven’t tried these yet, but I was thinking about a big punch bowl with these at the top. Thanks

    1. It’s been a couple years since I have made them but to the best of my memory they float. If you notice the second image they are floating but you might wish to only make one or two at first to confirm this. I will be making them this year for the grand babies party.
