How to use these Boo Boo Bunnies as an ice pack:
To add an ice cube to and turn these Boo Boo Bunnies into an adorable ice pack for soothing minor bumps and bruises:
- Locate the Bunny’s “Tummy”: After completing the Boo Boo Bunny according to the tutorial (folding and rolling the washcloth, securing the head with a rubber band, and adding decorations), the bunny’s body will have an opening in the center where the rolled washcloth was folded. This hollow area, often referred to as the “tummy,” is where the ice cube will go.
- Prepare the Ice Cube: Take a standard-sized ice cube from your freezer. If the ice cube is too large for the bunny’s body, you can wrap it in a small piece of cloth or plastic wrap to make it easier to insert and to prevent dripping as it melts.
- Insert the Ice Cube: Gently pull apart the folded layers of the bunny’s body to access the hollow space. Slip the ice cube into this opening, positioning it in the center of the bunny’s tummy. The washcloth should hold the ice cube snugly, but ensure it’s not so tight that it’s difficult to insert or remove.
- Secure the Ice Cube: The natural tension of the folded washcloth should keep the ice cube in place. If the opening feels too loose, you can gently adjust the folds or use a small, loose rubber band around the bunny’s body (below the head) to help hold the ice cube securely without restricting the washcloth’s ability to absorb melting water.
- Use as an Ice Pack: Place the Boo Boo Bunny on the bump, bruise, or sore spot. The washcloth will absorb the water as the ice cube melts, keeping the area cool and preventing drips. The soft, cute bunny design makes it comforting for kids to hold against minor injuries.
This method leverages the Boo Boo Bunny’s design to create a practical and kid-friendly ice pack, using these bunnies for their kids’ “boo-boos.” If you have more questions about the craft or its uses, let me know!

Best Tips for an Boo Boo Bunny ice pack:
- Check the Fit: Ensure the ice cube isn’t too large, as it could stretch or distort the bunny shape. A smaller cube or crushed ice wrapped in a thin layer of cloth can work if needed.
- Monitor Melting: The washcloth will absorb water as the ice melts, but if used for an extended period, have a towel handy to manage any excess moisture.
- Clean After Use: Rinse the washcloth thoroughly after the ice melts and let it air dry to keep the bunny fresh for future use.

These little bunnies bring back memories. My kids used to call them "Booboo Bunnies". We used them when they had a "booboo" by fitting an ice cube into the opening in the bunny body. The wash cloth would absorb the water as the ice cube melted and the bunny made it easy to hold an ice cube on bumps and bruises. 🙂
Awww! Those are adorable! 🙂
Thank you for this! I had been looking for something to put in the Easter basket of my three month old grandson. No teeth – so no jelly beans, obviously! This is perfect and your directions are excellent. Pinned!
