Fresh veggies are simply the best. It is amazing the difference in taste of canned green beans and fresh. Not to mention the difference of sodium levels. And I can make these Thai stir fry garlic green beans in about the same amount of time required to heat a can of green beans.
They are perfect for a quick weeknight dinner or an impressive Thai side dish, this stir-fry brings the heat and crunch of authentic Thai cuisine right to your kitchen.
NOTE: Also be aware Thai red chilies do contain a good bit of heat. So you might wish to go lightly on the chilies unless you are hot chile lovers.
Thai spicy green beans recipe:

Ingredients:
- 12 ounces green beans
- 1-2 dried Thai spicy red chilies (you could use red pepper flakes)
- 1 Tablespoon olive oil
- 2 garlic cloves, chopped
- salt
- black pepper
Equipment Needed:
- Colander
- Cutting Board
- Sharp Knife
- Skillet or Wok
How to Stir Fry Fresh Green Beans:

Place the fresh green beans in a colander or strainer and wash well.

If using string beans, remove the strings and snip off the ends of the green beans using a knife or kitchen shears.

If using fresh garlic and chili pods, chop them instead of mincing them.
You could use canned chopped garlic and Thai chili flakes for ease or you could use fresh garlic cloves and dried Thai chilies and chop them yourself. Fresh is always best but convenience is amazing also. We grow garlic and Thai chilies in our garden every few years and preserve them by freezing or dehydrating so we tend to always have fresh. But not to worry if you don’t these Thai Green Beans will turn out amazing with store bought seasonings.

Heat the olive oil in a wok or large skillet. Add the crushed Thai Chiles and green beans and stir fry until almost done (about 5-6 minutes).

Add the minced garlic and stir fry for 1-2 minutes longer. Be careful to not burn the garlic pieces.

Season with salt and black pepper to taste. Remove from heat and serve immediately.
So if you are craving a side dish that’s a cut above the rest. These Thai garlicky and spicy green beans recipe will have your taste buds doing a happy dance! Stir-fried to perfection, these beans pack a punch with every bite. Enjoy my Friends!
🥣 Recipe Tips
- Adjust Spice to Taste: Dried Thai red chilies pack significant heat, so start with just 1 chili if you’re sensitive to spice, and taste as you go. You can always add more crushed chilies at the end for extra kick without overwhelming the dish.
- Prevent Garlic from Burning: Add the chopped garlic toward the end of stir-frying the green beans, as instructed, and keep the heat medium-high while stirring constantly. This ensures the garlic becomes fragrant without turning bitter.
- Maintain Crisp Texture: Use fresh green beans and avoid overcooking by stir-frying for only 5-6 minutes until they’re bright green and tender-crisp.
