This is an easy dip made with Campbell’s shrimp soup and cream cheese with fresh green onions and slices of ham. It is so very easy that you could whip it up for any cocktail party, get together or New Year’s Eve celebrations in just a few minutes.  This can be served as a shrimp spread recipe for a pretty presentation for a bread bowl dip.

But this cream of shrimp soup dip could also be served with crackers on the side for a simpler dip.  It is easy and one of my favorite dips and has a great flavor combo.

Cream of Shrimp Soup Dip Ingredients:

  • 8 oz package of cream cheese, softened
  • 10.5 oz can of Cream of Shrimp Soup
  • 3 green onions, sliced

Allow the cream cheese to sit out on the counter for about 15 to 20 minutes to come to room temperature to soften.   Then add the softened cream cheese and soup in a large mixing bowl.

How to Make a Bread Bowl:

You want to make the bread bowl but still reserve the cubes of bread that are cut out to serve alongside the dip.  So our instructions on how to make a bread bowl are a little bit different.

how to make a bread bowl

Most of the time the steps on how to make a bread bowl are to cut off the top horizontally but we are not doing that for this recipe. So you need to hold your bread knife straight down and cut a vertical circle about 2/3’s the depth into the sourdough bread round.

Make cuts into the cut circle to make little squares.  And doing this will help save the cubes of bread to serve with the dip.

How to make a bread bowl

Gently pull on each cub and remove the cubes of bread and set aside in a small bowl.  Continue until all the top is removed.

After all the cubes are removed, clean out the remaining bread to make room for the bread bowl dip.   And that is how to make a bread bowl and to preserve the bread cubes at the same time.

Bread bowl Dip

Now spoon your dip made with Campbell’s shrimp soup into the bread round and add the cubes around the sides.  Then you can top with additional sliced onions for garnish.

This recipe is very easy but versatile it could either be a shrimp dip or a shrimp spread recipe.  And could be served with crackers or as a bread bowl dip.  Either way, we know you will love it.
