How to Play the New Year’s Eve Scavenger Hunt

  • Print copies of just page 1 ahead of time (regular paper or cardstock works great!).
  • Hand out a copy to each player so they have the list of festive items to find.
  • Keep plenty of pencils on hand for checking off discoveries as they go.
  • Scatter the items around your home or party space—hide a few cleverly to ramp up the challenge!
  • Decide on the rules: set a timer for everyone to hunt at once, or play until the first person finds everything.

New Years Eve Charades:

New Years Eve Charades

Charades is a classic crowd-pleaser that brings everyone together for non-stop laughter and hilarious antics! If you’ve never played, you’re in for a night of pure fun.

Our printable includes two pages packed with New Year’s Eve-themed words and phrases to guarantee a memorable game. Or, get creative and jot down your own ideas using the handy blank sheet provided! 🎭🥂

How to Play New Year’s Eve Charades

  • Print the two pages of Charades prompts and carefully cut them into individual strips along the lines.
  • Fold the strips and place them all into a hat, bowl, or pan for easy drawing.
  • Grab a timer and set it for 3 minutes per turn.
  • Divide players into two teams and flip a coin to decide which team goes first.
  • The first player from Team 1 draws a slip and—without speaking—acts out the New Year’s-themed word or phrase.
  • Their teammates have 3 minutes to guess correctly.
  • If time runs out without a correct guess, Team 2 gets one chance to steal the point by guessing right.
  • Then it’s Team 2’s turn to draw and act—the fun alternates until all slips are used or you declare a winner! 🎭🥳

New Year’s Eve Scattergories Directions:

new year's eve Scattergories

Scattergories is a fast-paced game where players race to list as many unique words as possible that start with a specific letter—all within a timed round. Everyone works on their own sheet.

You score one point for each word that no one else wrote down. The key to winning? Come up with the most creative and uncommon answers! ✍️🏆

How to Play New Year’s Eve Scattergories

  • Print the Scattergories sheet—one for each player. (Or split into small teams of no more than 3 for a collaborative twist!)
  • Grab a timer or a 3-minute hourglass. For extra excitement, shorten rounds to 2 minutes!
  • Make sure everyone has a pen or pencil, and keep the printable face-down so no one peeks at the categories early.
  • Start the timer: Players have 3 minutes to fill in unique words starting with the given letter (Y, then E, A, and R) for each category listed.
  • When time’s up for each letter, go around and share answers. Score 1 point for every word no one else wrote down—the more creative, the better!
  • Award fun prizes to the top scorer(s) or give participation treats to everyone! 🏆✍️

New Year’s Eve Pictionary:

Pictionary is the ultimate drawing game where one player sketches a word or phrase, and their teammates race to guess it—leading to hilariously silly, wild, and downright chaotic moments filled with laughter!

In our house, we skip the official board and go big with a large whiteboard plus plenty of colorful dry-erase markers. We always split into boys vs. girls teams—the competition gets fierce, the trash talk flows freely, and the fun never stops. It’s pure madness, and we’ve made countless cherished memories playing with our kids and grandkids! 🎨😂

How to Play New Year’s Eve Pictionary

  • Print the two Pictionary pages and cut them into individual strips along the lines.
  • Fold each strip and toss them all into a hat, bowl, or pot.
  • Split into teams—we highly recommend boys vs. girls for maximum fun and epic trash talk (trust us!).
  • Set up a large whiteboard or chalkboard where everyone can see, and keep a basket of colorful dry-erase markers (or chalk) nearby.
  • Flip a coin to decide which team goes first.
  • One player from Team 1 draws a slip and has 1 minute to sketch clues (no words or sounds!) to get their teammates to guess the New Year’s-themed word or phrase.
  • If Team 1 doesn’t guess in time, Team 2 gets one chance to steal the point.
  • The team with the correct guess earns the point—if no one gets it, no points awarded.
  • Alternate turns between teams and keep the fun rolling!
  • Hand out silly or festive New Year’s Eve prizes to the winning team (or everyone, because participation deserves celebration too)! 🎨🏆
